Escaping duplicate manufacturer text across a large catalogue without losing quality.
Large catalogues have a duplication problem that no amount of writing effort solves directly: every competitor selling the same item is using the manufacturer's description, word for word.
Duplicate copy is a ranking ceiling
When your page text is identical to two hundred other stores, there is no reason for a search engine to prefer yours. It does not usually result in a penalty, but it does mean the page competes only on domain strength and never on relevance.
Prioritise, do not rewrite everything
Rewriting forty thousand descriptions is not realistic. Sort products by revenue and by search volume, and rewrite the top few hundred properly. For the long tail, a structured template that combines real attributes, compatibility notes and use cases produces genuinely varied text without hand-writing each one.
Write what the buyer needs to decide
Specifications, what is in the box, what it works with, who it suits and who it does not. Customer questions and reviews on the page add unique text continuously and answer objections at the same time.
Measure indexing and organic sessions on the rewritten set against a control group. It turns a debatable content project into a decided one.
