A comprehensive guide on evaluating and selecting the perfect Learning Management System for your organization.
Most learning platform selections go wrong in the same way: a feature comparison spreadsheet is built, the longest column wins, and the platform is abandoned within a year.
Start from your delivery model, not features
Self-paced courses, live cohorts, blended classroom, compliance training and skills certification all place different demands on a system. Write down how your training actually runs, including the awkward parts, before looking at any product. That document is the shortlist criteria.
Test with your own content
Demos use polished sample data. Load two of your real courses, including the messy one with video, a quiz and a downloadable workbook, and have a real instructor build it. An afternoon of that reveals more than a month of sales calls.
Ask the integration and export questions early
How does it connect to your HR system or student records, how do learners sign in, and how do you get your content and completion data out if you leave. The last question is the one vendors answer least clearly and the one that matters most in year three.
Weight ease of course creation heavily. A system nobody wants to build in ends up holding three courses regardless of what else it can do.
