Building for Budget Android Phones

Why your app feels fine in the office and terrible in the field, and how to fix it.

Your app feels smooth on the test device on your desk. That device costs more than most of your users' phones, and that gap is where field complaints come from.

Test on the hardware your users own

Look at your analytics and find the devices at the middle and bottom of your install base, not the top. Buy two of them. A phone with four gigabytes of RAM, a slow storage chip and a two-year-old chipset behaves differently under memory pressure, and no emulator reproduces that faithfully.

Memory pressure is the real enemy

On constrained devices the system aggressively reclaims background processes, so your app is killed and restarted more often than you expect. If state lives only in memory, users lose their place constantly. Save and restore state properly, keep image caches bounded, and load large lists in pages rather than all at once.

Assume a poor network, not no network

Intermittent connectivity is harder to handle than being fully offline. Set sensible timeouts, retry with backoff, cache what you can, and make sure a stalled request shows something other than a spinner that never resolves.

Once a quarter, put the app on the cheapest supported device with a throttled connection and use it for a full task. That session will produce a better backlog than a month of speculation.

Frequently Asked Questions

A standard business website goes live in 2–4 weeks. Custom software and ERP builds run 6–12 weeks depending on scope. We work in fast, transparent iterations so you see progress every week.

Yes. We're based in Bengaluru but work with businesses across India and abroad. Meetings happen over call and video, and everything is managed online — location is never a blocker.

Absolutely. We handle domain registration, secure hosting, SSL and email setup end-to-end, so you get a single point of contact instead of juggling multiple vendors.

Every project includes post-launch support. We monitor uptime, apply updates and fix issues quickly — and we offer ongoing maintenance and growth retainers if you want us to keep improving results.

Pricing depends on scope — we quote a fixed price for defined projects and a monthly retainer for ongoing marketing or software work. Every quote is free, itemised and has no hidden costs. Tell us your goals and we'll suggest the best fit.

Yes. We audit what you already have, fix what's holding it back and take it forward — whether it was built in-house or by another agency. We rebuild only when there's a clear reason to, so you keep the value already invested.
